Dr. Carolyn Waller, DVM
Managing Veterinarian, EVS Pet Urgent Care of Reno
Dr. Carolyn Waller has recently joined EVS Pet Urgent Care in Reno, Nevada, bringing her extensive veterinary expertise to the team.
She embarked on her veterinary journey at Ross University's School of Veterinary Medicine in June 2000. She fulfilled her ECFVG requirement at Tufts University through a year of observed clinical training and further honed her expertise in avian and exotic pet medicine during a 15-month intensive internship in New York.
Venturing into emergency and critical care, Dr. Waller dedicated herself for a year and a half in Northern Virginia before broadening her scope in small animal, avian, and exotic pet medicine for four enriching years under a double-boarded ABVP dog/cat and Avian practitioner in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Since August 2020, Dr. Waller has contributed her wealth of knowledge and holistic approach as a small animal, avian, and exotic integrative veterinarian in Reno, NV.
In 2010, Dr. Waller established her veterinary relief service, delivering high-quality relief services to the local veterinary community for a decade, and closed it in 2020 due to the difficult landscape during COVID. She is also in the process of completing clinicals for certification in dog/equine acupuncture through CHI. Dr. Waller also boasts certification in veterinary Ozone therapy.
As much as Dr. Waller loves being a veterinarian, she is a mom first, her driving license plate even says “MOMDVM”. She has 3 children (currently almost 20, 14, and about to be 11) with her late husband who passed away from cancer in 2018. She has homeschooled her children for the past 12 years.
When asked why she was excited to join EVS, she answered, “I am excited to partner with EVS in being the change that our industry needs to preserve the quality of life for veterinary professionals, promote work/life balance for working parents, and model entrepreneurship for my kids. I look forward to helping people care for their animals when their GP is too busy (because they are all overwhelmed right now) and the ER is (thankfully) not the appropriate choice. I am SUPER excited to be able to extend urgent care to exotic pet species as well - birds, bunnies, bearded dragons, etc. There are so few choices for them in our area and it is a passion of mine to improve that situation.”
